Diesel particulate filter
Recent standards have outlined a Diesel particulate filter (DPF) fitting for both modern and older diesel vehicles, to reduce the amount of diesel particulate leaving your vehicle’s exhaust.
The DPF is fitted on the exhaust of the vehicle, and is designed as a barrier for the diesel particulate; maintenance of this component’s automated regeneration cycle is critical to ensuring optimal performance of your vehicle.
Oil grade requirements
If your vehicle contains a DPF, then the use of specialised low ash oil grade (Sulphated Ash, Phosphorous, Sulphur) is critical to maintaining the proper function of the DPF and avoiding unwelcome blockages.
The use of incorrect oil can be harmful for your vehicle and can impact the regeneration process, this can lead to unwanted oil clogs in the vehicle’s oil depository and significant build up of diesel particulate which can lead to the vehicle becoming non-operational.
Haden recommends that this component be replaced every 100,000 miles. We always ensure that our DPF checks are thorough and we use only manufactured approved oils.
